Client Alert: Be Prepared If Immigration Officers Arrive Unannounced

Federal immigration authorities are focusing on site visits to check employer compliance and apprehend undocumented workers. The many Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in the news, including the high-profile nation-wide action against 7-Eleven stores, have brought this issue to the forefront. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) also is focusing on employer site visits to confirm compliance for temporary workers including H-1B specialty occupation workers and L-1 multinational executives, managers and employees with specialized knowledge among others.

In response, we have developed a custom program to educate clients about how to respond if federal immigration officers arrive unannounced. First we have a phone conference with management so we understand the parameters at your worksite(s), and then we send written information and instructions that you can implement immediately to get prepared and then follow if ICE or USCIS conducts a site visit or enforcement action. We will teach you what you and your colleagues need to know to respond effectively in the moment. We have  a very modest flat fee charge for this important service.
